Sew Thankful Blog Tour

Welcome to the Sew Thankful Blog Tour hosted by Sewing by Ti! I’m in Canada, and our Thanksgiving was in October, but there is still SEW MUCH to be thankful for. Today, specifically, I’m thankful for a little girl who is celebrating her sixth birthday today. Elle Belle, we are SEW THANKFUL for you!

For this blog post I’m celebrating all things Elle! And Elle loves all things FOXES! At an activity once, the children were asked to draw what was in their heart. Elle drew a fox. Her collection of fox stuffies is mildly ridiculous. So, of course, I had to add to it!

I made her a cute pink and red fox stuffy using my embroidery machine. The in the hoop design is by Gracefully Geeky. And while I did call Elle, who was on a sleepover at her grandparents, to ask if foxes can be pink, I didn’t tell her why I was asking. UNFORTUNATELY, she has older siblings who gave her the birthday present fox the day before her birthday. UGH! She loves her fox, which she has named Lovey Fox!

FORTUNATELY, I had some cute Disney princess knit fabric that I’ve been hoarding for a few years, and I already had Love Notion’s Li’l LDT pattern printed out from Halloween costumes.

A quick, cute, adorable dress to the rescue! And this time nobody told her about it. Or I’d be sewing something up while everyone slept!

I really wanted to make the dress long sleeves because it is winter, but I had barely enough to squeak out what I was able to make. Short sleeves are just fine! And she LOVES it! Mom made birthday presents for the win! Elle, your family is SEW THANKFUL for you! Happy birthday!

Thanks for stopping by the blog. Check out what all the other bloggers on the tour are sew thankful for.

About manningthemachine

I'm Laura. Mama to four, and wife to one awesome guy. I'm ever so slightly sarcastic. Just a little bit. I like to quote movies, but since our house is managed by little people, most of those quotes come from kiddie shows. At least my husband generally gets the references. It makes me feel less awkward. I took sewing lessons starting at the age of 8, through the Kids Can Sew program. I took lessons for four or five years. Then I became a snotty teen and decided sewing was lame. I've repented of my ways, and enjoy sewing for my little ones. And sometimes other people. And almost never for myself. Oh hey. My blog name. "Manning The Machine." I think it's probably only funny if you know me in real life. And even then, maybe it is only funny to me. My last name is Manning. This is a blog about my sewing. Manning The (Sewing) Machine. Do you get it? Do you? No. That's fine. I think it's funny even if you don't.
