5oo4 Summer’s Coming Blog Tour

Welcome to day 3 of the Summer’s Coming Blog Tour by 5 OUT OF 4 PATTERNS! #5oo4Summer

ALSO!!!!! Read to the end for a giveaway! Yay!

I love all of the graphics that were made for this blog tour. Maybe I can just use them to fill my blog post? They’re so colorful and bright and happy. And while summer is coming, and plants are now starting to grow, and trees have buds, the grass is still looking a little drab.

See?! Look at all that brown grass! Repeat after me: “summer is coming, summer is coming, summer is coming.”

I guess you didn’t really swing by to look at the grass though…. That would be a different kind of blog post for a different kind of blog.

Let’s talk about 5oo4’s Resolution Bra and Tank, shall we? First – THE TANK! Two different necklines: regular and lower. I opted for the regular. Solid or contrast tank options. I obviously went for the solid. You can also have a bit of fun with the hemline: straight, curved, or banded. It’s very hard to tell, because stripes, but my Resolution Tank is actually banded. I added a smidgen of length to my tank as well. It drives me crazy when my tops are even 1/4″ too short. When I haven’t made a pattern before, I tend to add length. I’d rather something a bit too long than a smidge too short. BUT, for next time I won’t add that length.

I want to get something right out in the open to start off with. This bra is itchy as HELL!! There’s a gold thread running through the stripes. Oh. My. Gosh! Is it ever obnoxious. These are the things I never think about when picking fabric. Fortunately, I’m a double sports bra kind of girl, so I can wear it as my outer layer, and it isn’t a big deal. I will say that fabric choice does matter depending on how supportive you want your Resolution Bra to be. There’s a whole post about picking supportive fabrics over at 5oo4’s blog.

What I love about the sports bra! Right up there! Different length cut lines on the sports bra pattern piece. Because going over an A cup isn’t going to need as much length as going over a DD cup. YES! Thank you!

Things I love about the Resolutions that I made: check that stripe matching! BOOM! Things I dislike about the Resolutions that I made: I took the lazy way out and bonded with FOE! Ugh. It just doesn’t lay as nice as binding. I should just take the FOE off and put a proper binding on. Wouldn’t you agree?

Sizing is XXS-3XL. You can check out the size chart above. And unless you’re matching stripes, adding length, or whatnot, you’ll be able to make the tank in 1yd of fabric or less! That’s always a win!

About manningthemachine

I'm Laura. Mama to four, and wife to one awesome guy. I'm ever so slightly sarcastic. Just a little bit. I like to quote movies, but since our house is managed by little people, most of those quotes come from kiddie shows. At least my husband generally gets the references. It makes me feel less awkward. I took sewing lessons starting at the age of 8, through the Kids Can Sew program. I took lessons for four or five years. Then I became a snotty teen and decided sewing was lame. I've repented of my ways, and enjoy sewing for my little ones. And sometimes other people. And almost never for myself. Oh hey. My blog name. "Manning The Machine." I think it's probably only funny if you know me in real life. And even then, maybe it is only funny to me. My last name is Manning. This is a blog about my sewing. Manning The (Sewing) Machine. Do you get it? Do you? No. That's fine. I think it's funny even if you don't.

Great stripe matching!! I can barely get wide stripes to match, let alone all of those tiny stripes!
