In The Hoop Halloween

The girls finally decided on Halloween costumes. Danica wants to be a water fairy, River wants to be Tinkerbell, Elle wants to be a light fairy, and Jackson will be Peter Pan.

So far I have all the masks done. The designs are by Gracefully Geeky. The Tinkerbell mask can be found here. Peter Pan can be found here. Gracefully Geeky has a really helpful group on Facebook. Seriously talented ladies hanging out over there. Danica’s mask is the 6×10 hoop size. The rest of the masks are the 5×7 hoop size. I still need to add the elastic.

The wings are the Fairy Wings by Bobbin For Appliqués, which I just recently discovered. I still need to make Elle’s and Danica’s. I made River’s the 5×7 hoop size, even though I don’t have a 5×7 hoop. I used my 8×8 hoop for them. Except for the last step, which is attaching the star to the front and back. I was able to use my 4×4 hoop then. I REALLY need to get an actual 5×7 hoop. I think I’ll make Elle’s the same size as River’s, and make Danica’s the 6×10 hoop size. I’ll have to use my 8×12 hoop for those. Why are my hoops weird sizes? Bobbin For Appliqués also has a group on Facebook.

After the wings are done, I’m on to elf shoes and dresses. No, they won’t wear the little shoes for trick or treating, but they asked for them, so why not?!

About manningthemachine

I'm Laura. Mama to four, and wife to one awesome guy. I'm ever so slightly sarcastic. Just a little bit. I like to quote movies, but since our house is managed by little people, most of those quotes come from kiddie shows. At least my husband generally gets the references. It makes me feel less awkward. I took sewing lessons starting at the age of 8, through the Kids Can Sew program. I took lessons for four or five years. Then I became a snotty teen and decided sewing was lame. I've repented of my ways, and enjoy sewing for my little ones. And sometimes other people. And almost never for myself. Oh hey. My blog name. "Manning The Machine." I think it's probably only funny if you know me in real life. And even then, maybe it is only funny to me. My last name is Manning. This is a blog about my sewing. Manning The (Sewing) Machine. Do you get it? Do you? No. That's fine. I think it's funny even if you don't.
