I think this might be my first time sewing since Jackson was born. Mel of Filles à Maman was awesome enough to let me be part of her most recent pattern testing. Mittens with or without a thumb, cowl with toggle or without, and beanie. Because, winter is coming. The patterns just released this past Monday, also known as the first real day of kindergarten for Danica. Her school did a staggered start for the first week with only a handful of children going each day. Monday was the fist day they were all together. It also happened to snow on Monday. So, guess what Danica got to wear to school? Perfect timing, really.

Since testing the baby sized cowl height was shortened. In the pictures, Jack’s is folded in half. Mel is awesome and listens to the feedback of her testers and shortened the cowl length because I’d mentioned it was just too big for a baby. She also upsized the beanies, as most testers found them a little snug during testing. I made Elle’s and River’s at the same time since they’re the same size, and found theirs snug. I went up a size for Danica’s and found it was better. Like I said, Mel is awesome and listens to her testers. If you’ve read my blog before, you know that I have nothing but praise for Filles a Maman patterns.

About manningthemachine

I'm Laura. Mama to four, and wife to one awesome guy. I'm ever so slightly sarcastic. Just a little bit. I like to quote movies, but since our house is managed by little people, most of those quotes come from kiddie shows. At least my husband generally gets the references. It makes me feel less awkward. I took sewing lessons starting at the age of 8, through the Kids Can Sew program. I took lessons for four or five years. Then I became a snotty teen and decided sewing was lame. I've repented of my ways, and enjoy sewing for my little ones. And sometimes other people. And almost never for myself. Oh hey. My blog name. "Manning The Machine." I think it's probably only funny if you know me in real life. And even then, maybe it is only funny to me. My last name is Manning. This is a blog about my sewing. Manning The (Sewing) Machine. Do you get it? Do you? No. That's fine. I think it's funny even if you don't.
