Baby Sewing

Before Jackson was born, I decided to make a few little items for him.

The moose embroidery design is part of Bunnycup Embroidery’s Forest Animal colection, which also comes in applique format. I put the design on a Carter’s brand onesie. It was my first time embroidering on a onesie. I know the design and placement is not perfect, but I love it.

I’d received a duvet cover amongst the fabric I inherited from my Bobo. I reasoned that she wouldn’t mind it I re-purposed it, and made a crib sheet from the backing for Jackson. I am still contemplating what to do with the front which is blocks of the backing fabric and horse head fabric. It might become a quilt of some sort. Elle isn’t upset in the picture by the way. She really liked playing in the crib, and she knew I couldn’t get her out if she lay down flat. My big belly got in the way of reaching her. I used MADE’s crib and toddler sheet tutorial.

I used the same Jack Skellington fabric that I’d made Danica’s underwear out of to make some little beanies for Jackson. I followed a tutorial that I found on Make It & Love It. In Jackson’s first few days of life River was overly concerned about him being “not too hot, not too cold” and always brought me one or both of his Skellington hats. She even tossed them in my hospital bag. She’s too sweet.

About manningthemachine

I'm Laura. Mama to four, and wife to one awesome guy. I'm ever so slightly sarcastic. Just a little bit. I like to quote movies, but since our house is managed by little people, most of those quotes come from kiddie shows. At least my husband generally gets the references. It makes me feel less awkward. I took sewing lessons starting at the age of 8, through the Kids Can Sew program. I took lessons for four or five years. Then I became a snotty teen and decided sewing was lame. I've repented of my ways, and enjoy sewing for my little ones. And sometimes other people. And almost never for myself. Oh hey. My blog name. "Manning The Machine." I think it's probably only funny if you know me in real life. And even then, maybe it is only funny to me. My last name is Manning. This is a blog about my sewing. Manning The (Sewing) Machine. Do you get it? Do you? No. That's fine. I think it's funny even if you don't.
